Class of 2020
I am an installation artist whose work explores both the temporal and transcendent nature of emotion. Working with hearts, color, and light I push these symbols and materials to see what lies beyond their immediate physical forms. A concrete heart alludes to depression, balloon hearts to happiness, and ice hearts to the ephemerality of emotion. I use colors in my lights to refer to many emotional states due to the varying ways of feeling emotion; for me pink is referring to healing or vanity, and orange to confidence or destruction. The lights work as a representation of how emotion extends beyond the mental, and physical state, and affects the surroundings of the host, as light reaches beyond its physical container, and affects its surroundings.
