Artist Statement
I am an artist whose sculptural installations represent the complex systems of memory, organization, and interpretation within the mind. Creating networks of wood, glass, steel, and simulated concrete, I explore the way these four materials give way to infinite possibilities of composition. Strips of wood, glass rods, and bent steel join and intersect creating a physically and visually tense web-like network of structures that accumulate and inhabit pre-existing spaces and the structures within them. The precarious structure of these forms aims to instill a lack of confidence in our pre-defined associations we have with these materials, simultaneously alluding to the way our minds rely on only a few ever-changing memories to organize and interpret an infinite amount of experiences.
