Phil Weasley

My work twists objects, methods, and materials into new forms to reflect the focus of my work: the human need for touch necessary to develop and maintain relationships. More specifically, I am interested in the role of touch, affection, and intimacy as it relates to the queer experience. The work is intended for audience interaction, and construction materials (PVC pipe, chicken wire, screws) are paired with craft materials (ceramics and fiber) to evoke a tactile experience. The relationship between the viewer and the object arises that arises in the gallery, a public setting, interrogates what it means to touch an object in public we may otherwise touch only when no one is looking.
