Support local artists & makers this holiday season at the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Shopping local is great — but it’s not limited to artisanal foods and drinks.
This holiday season, you can support local artists and designers (and make a dent in your holiday shopping list) at the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace on Saturday, Dec. 2.
The semiannual event will feature work from 119 top CCAD students and alumni, including 75 current CCAD students and 44 CCAD graduates.
As in years past, the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace will include traditional fine arts pieces like paintings, glassworks, and sculptures. But this year, the fair will also include great gift items like trendy enamel pins, cheeky greeting cards, contemporary jewelry, and handcrafted housewares (think mugs, bowls, and other kitchen accessories).
CCAD grads and sisters Ashleigh and Danielle Jones will be at the fair, selling work from their homegoods line, Nickel and Ash, including tea towels with sayings like “Adulting: (n): doing daunting tasks that you don’t want to do, but have to do…” and hand-sewn potholders with prints of breakfast favorites like bacon, eggs, and toast.
“They make really good gifts for people who love brunch or adulting — or don’t like adulting,” said Danielle Jones (Fashion Design, 2013).
Plus, the work at the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace is unique.
“It’s not something you’re going to find at a regular store,” Jones said. “And it also makes the people that you’re giving it to feel really special.”
