
Columbus College of Art & Design is proud to announce leadership updates and new appointments to its Board of Trustees. Michael Bongiorno, a longtime trustee and respected architect, has been named chair of the board, succeeding Attorney Susan Rector. Darci Congrove, Managing Director at GBQ Partners and a trustee since 2015, has been appointed vice chair. The new trustees were elected with unanimous approval and began their first term on July 1, 2025. Bongiorno will serve a two-year term as chair.
Bongiorno, Managing Principal and Design Director at AECOM, brings to his new leadership role decades of experience in civic and cultural architecture and deep commitment to Columbus’ creative community. He has served on CCAD’s board since 2019 and has been instrumental in guiding campus planning and fundraising initiatives.
"Michael’s leadership and vision are a perfect match for this moment in CCAD’s history," said Dr. Melanie Corn, CCAD President. "He brings a passion for design, a thoughtful approach to governance, and a deep understanding of the value of creative education in building vibrant communities."
The college also welcomes seven new trustees whose diverse expertise will help guide CCAD’s strategic priorities:
John C. (Jack) Beeler – Partner, Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP: Previously serving on the CCAD board from 2011 to 2022 as well as the Here for Change Campaign Steering Committee, Beeler continues his deep commitment to CCAD and the arts in central Ohio by returning to the board.
Robert Coles – Senior Director of Creative and Digital Services, Stanford University: Alumnus Robert Coles (Retail Advertising, 1995) previously served as chair of CCAD’s Alumni Advisory Board and brings extensive experience in higher education, marketing, and design to his new role.
Julie Granillo – President and CEO, Werth: A seasoned business leader, Granillo brings expertise in brand strategy, innovation, and executive leadership. Her passion for fostering creative thinking in business aligns closely with CCAD’s mission.
David Hogrefe – Principal, Maestro Consulting: With decades of experience of leadership in the retail and design industries, Hogrefe offers valuable insights into digital innovation, change leadership, and business strategy. He is a strong advocate for cultivating creative talent in tech and entrepreneurship.
Tom Katzenmeyer – President and CEO, Greater Columbus Arts Council: A champion for the arts in Columbus and beyond, Katzenmeyer brings to the board significant experience in arts administration, public affairs, and nonprofit leadership. His deep connection to the local creative economy will help strengthen CCAD’s community impact.
Carol McGuire – Community leader and arts advocate: McGuire has long supported arts and education organizations across central Ohio. She brings a wealth of experience in civic engagement, philanthropic leadership, and community service to her role on the board.
Jennifer Walton – Chief Brand Officer, Sky Nile Consulting: An award-winning brand strategist and creative entrepreneur, Walton specializes in helping businesses and organizations find their voice. Her commitment to elevating underrepresented narratives and fostering inclusive storytelling makes her a powerful addition to the board.

The appointments reflect CCAD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the college’s leadership and deepen its connections across sectors in Columbus and beyond.
The CCAD Board of Trustees is charged with the stewardship of the college and the responsibility of ensuring that the institution remains strong, viable, and among the leaders in art and design education. The board operates with thoughtful oversight of the college's academics, finances, and facilities and their management by the college’s administration. Trustees are cultural, community, and business leaders who serve as volunteers, contributing their time, treasure, and talent to CCAD.
