Whether you're looking to learn something new, reconnect with a creative practice, or make time for a creative hobby, CCAD's adult art classes offer a place to start. These non-credit, multi-week art classes for adults are open to anyone 18 or older and take place in the same professional studios where our students learn and create.

Designed for beginners and experienced makers alike, our adult art classes provide hands-on instruction in a welcoming environment. Learn alongside fellow creatives, explore new techniques, and build confidence as you develop your skills.

Welcome to Class

Each course meets once a week for five consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 6:30–9 p.m. Expect a mix of demonstrations, hands-on projects, and studio time to practice what you're learning. With small class sizes and experienced instructors, you'll have the freedom to explore new techniques, ask questions, and make steady progress throughout the course.

ENROLLMENT OPENS MONDAY, JULY 6, 2026

Tuesday Evenings, 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.

Learn to create vibrant, colorful paintings using a limited palette. Artists will experience the power and versatility of primary colors while creating beautiful landscape paintings and still life paintings in the studio. Exercises designed to expand knowledge of color theory and painting with oils are included.

Want to incorporate the Adobe Suite into your professional or creative pursuits but not sure where to start? From photo editing, to layout, to creating original graphics from scratch, this course will introduce students to Adobe Photoshop. Familiarizing yourself with this foundational software can help prepare you for further exploration of the Adobe Suite as you develop your distinctive artistic voice or professional brand.

Learn about visible mending traditions and techniques and hone your skills to transform or extend the life of a garment. This workshop series will cover the basics of hand and machine sewing to help you understand the construction and care of your favorite fabrics. Students will leave with a foundational understanding of garment construction, care, and mending techniques.

Whether it’s full of doodles, observational drawings, poems, or unstructured musings, a journal can become a valued piece of an artist’s creative practice. Learn how to construct and bind your own journal or sketchbook using a variety of traditional bookbinding techniques and embark on your own art journaling journey.

This foundational course offers the opportunity to learn how short-term speed drawings and sustained life drawing studies can develop your skills as an artist. Explore different artistic media and objects while gaining confidence in anatomy, expression, and gesture, while referencing live models.

This course provides a foundational exploration of design and structure, wheel throwing techniques, hand building, and sculpture. Artists will experience exercises designed to encourage creativity and craftsmanship while developing a repertoire of methods for working with clay.

Learn to create vibrant, colorful paintings using a limited palette. Artists will experience the power and versatility of the watercolor medium through projects such as still life, landscapes, or portrait painting. Exercises designed to expand knowledge of color theory and painting with various watercolor techniques are included.

Learn to navigate the workspace of Adobe Premiere Pro in this beginner-friendly course. Students will experiment with adding, trimming, and cutting video, as well as applying effects and transitions to create a cohesive final piece. Explore essential editing techniques, including working with audio, color correction, and timeline-based editing. By the end of the course, students will build foundational skills in video editing and gain confidence in bringing their ideas to life on screen.

Use professional-grade tools such as saws, drills, torches, and presses to make lasting, one-of-a-kind jewelry in this series of five workshops. With a focus on metalwork and foundational skill-building, this class is designed for beginners through confident jewelry makers who wish to enhance their techniques in a fun, welcoming environment.

Refund Policy

Refunds are granted according to the following policy:

  • I understand that I may request to withdraw my student(s) from a course up to two weeks prior to the start of a class by emailing [email protected] for a refund of 100% minus a $25 administrative fee per course. There are no refunds thereafter. Nonattendance does not constitute a withdrawal.
  • Please note that classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. Registrants with cancelled sections will be offered an alternative class section for their young artist, or a full refund for their class registration. Our staff will contact registrants no later than five days before the start of the scheduled session.

Students will often have the opportunity to take work home with them, either physically or by uploading their digital work to a USB drive or digital storage drive. All final projects can be gathered after they visit the Saturday Art Class Exhibition.


No. Due to the logistics of staffing, supply ordering, and organizing class rosters, we are unable to accept new registrants past a program’s enrollment deadline.

The tuition fees for all Youth & Community Learning programs are inclusive of material fees. You do not need to bring any additional materials to class, unless you have your own supplies you would prefer to work with. If you are registered for a digital class, you may be asked to create a free Adobe ID, but you will not be required to purchase any software or subscriptions.


No. These are non-credit classes designed for personal enrichment and creative exploration.

We do not offer certificates of completion for these Evening Art Classes. If you would like a letter of recommendation after completing a course, please contact your instructor.

Yes. These classes are open to all skill levels and are especially welcoming to beginners. 

Alumni and Veterans both receive a 10% discount and the codes can be obtained by contacting our department directly at [email protected].

We’ll reach out with a welcome email and classroom roster within two weeks of classes starting. Your instructor will follow up shortly thereafter with a personal welcome email and a syllabus.

No. These are multi-week courses that meet once per week in the evening.

All classes are held in-person on CCAD’s downtown Columbus campus in professional studio settings.

You will receive an email within two weeks of the start of the program with a campus map, your classroom location and, if applicable, pickup and dropoff instructions.
