Life is serious. Home goods shouldn’t be.

Such is the philosophy behind Nickel and Ash, from sisters Danielle Jones (Fashion Design, 2013) and Ashleigh Jones (Fashion Design, 2014).

The Westerville natives create home décor goods and kitchenware items ranging in price from $14 to $50. All of the graphics are designed and hand-screened by the sisters and will be for sale at the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace Saturday, Dec. 2 (their fourth appearance at the Art Fair).

Read more from the Joneses below, and find more of their designs on Etsy and Instagram.

What’s your approach to your work?

Our shop features a mix of soft home goods and kitchen wares that make adulting less stressful and more fun! Life is serious enough, so purchasing home goods shouldn't be. We are best known for taking daunting tasks, and spinning them into humorous designs. The home should be a place of pure relaxation, and we strive to make products that make that happen.

Why did you want to participate in the CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace? What kind of significance does it have to be selected for it?

It's wonderful to be surrounded by other small businesses and fellow artists that are passionate about sharing their work. Participating is fun tradition that started when we were still students. It is great to be accepted because it allows exposure to our growing brand.

How has your CCAD education influenced the work you will be offering for sale?

All our pieces are hand-sewn, which utilizes the skills we honed during our undergrad. Our instructors also taught trend forecasting, specialty pattern making, print design, and surface design. These core classes are values that enhance our designs.
