Seating
Tickets are required to enter the commencement ceremony.
Students can pick up to 8 tickets for guests. Tickets will be distributed at the time of cap and gown pickup, which will be Friday, April 15, through Friday, April 22, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at Student Central in the Crane Center. Need more than 8 tickets for your family and friends? Additional tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22 at Student Central in the Crane Center.
Accessibility—Mershon Auditorium does not have an elevator. Main floor accessible seating is available for individuals with limited mobility or those using wheelchairs, and their companions. To make advance accessible seating arrangements or request accommodations, please email Registrar Michael Murray at [email protected].
For guests with tickets, seating at the Mershon Auditorium is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Commencement speaker
The 2022 Commencement speaker is Paula Scher.

Paula Scher
Honorary doctorate
Paula Scher is one of the most acclaimed graphic designers in the world. She has been a principal in the New York office of the distinguished international design consultancy Pentagram since 1991, where she has designed identity systems, environmental graphics, packaging, and publications for a wide range of clients that includes, among others, the Public Theater, the Museum of Modern Art, the High Line, the Metropolitan Opera, Tiffany & Co., Citibank, and Microsoft. Scher has been the recipient of hundreds of industry honors including the National Design Award and the AIGA medal. She is an established artist exhibiting worldwide, and her designs are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Library of Congress, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and other institutions. A documentary on Scher and her work can be seen in the Netflix series Abstract: The Art of Design.
