From Idea to Object; A More Natural World
This presentation of work represents Pat Eastlake’s eye vision and mind vision. Oil paintings on canvas and wood panels, several wood sculptures, and some ceramics are being shown.
From the artist:
"My 40-year career as a designer/architectural woodworker was engaging and successful. Drawing was a strong part of that. Quick idea development was important. Presentation of those ideas to other people in readable form was absolutely necessary. My painting and construction style represents techniques that are built for speed, freshness, truth, and directness, like shorthand writing. Casual samples of previous various work on a tack board, quick, direct painting, older and recent Woodworking sculpture, recent Ceramic samples from classes at Bemis School of Art. I am studying the ancient Woodland Era Moundbuilder Peoples. I am using their symbols and geometry. Hawks, birds, turtles, deer, snakes, fish, the sun and moon, and star clusters represent the diversity of the consecrated forces of their natural world. We can see that hexagons, octagons, circles, squares, and parallel lines were used to generate large social spaces.
I dedicate this showing to Mrs. Ann Rothan, Linda Eastlake, and Philip Kreger."
