Anita Dawson, Professor Emerita, taught painting and drawing in the Fine Arts Department from 1978 to 2014. She served for 10 years as Chair of Painting and then Printmaking and Drawing. Ms. Dawson helped create a semester-long Study Abroad program in Rome called Studio Roma, leading groups of CCAD students for four semesters, and served as a visiting artist in Aix-en-Provence. Additionally, she served on the Visiting Artist Committee and Curriculum Committees, including the creation of a Master's program, and Search Committees for a college president and several faculty members.

She is now a full-time artist in Columbus, Ohio. Her work is exhibited in the Midwest and eastern United States, most recently at the First Street Gallery in NYC, and is in public collections such as the South Bend Museum of Art and numerous private collections.

Upcoming exhibitions will be at the McConnell Art Center in Worthington, Ohio, in July 2026 and at Sinclair College in Dayton in 2027.
