John Kortlander teaches thesis, figure drawing, and watercolor. A graduate studies mentor, Kortlander also has taught design, sound design, and painting at CCAD. He previously taught at the Mercersburg Academy, where he held the Johnson Chair for Outstanding Teaching. His work has been included in exhibits and film festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including at the Smithsonian Institution, Wexner Center for the Arts, Studio Arts Center International in Italy, and Kulturrathaus in Germany. Kortlander has a strong interest in sustainability. BFA in art history, Ohio University, 1981; MFA in painting, University of Colorado, 1983.
