Sammi Dougherty is an artist, educator, illustrator, and muralist whose work explores the connections between nature, frequency, symbolism, and mental wellness. She has taught at the collegiate level for more than a decade and currently teaches studio courses in the First-Year Experience (FYEX) program at Columbus College of Art & Design. She also serves as an instructor of Studio Art and Art History at Capital University and teaches community-based arts education through the non-profit 577 Foundation.
Dougherty has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has received numerous national and international awards for her mixed media works. As a muralist, she has completed more than 20 large-scale public murals throughout the Midwest. She has been awarded multiple grants through the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
Through both her artwork and teaching, Dougherty is committed to fostering confidence, creative risk-taking, and authentic self-expression. Her practice emphasizes the power of art as a tool for connection, resilience, and mental healing.
