Suzanne Cotton is the Chair of Fashion Design at Columbus College of Art & Design. She studied at the Parsons New School for Design in New York City and Paris, France, and has extensive experience in the garment industry, where she specialized in knitwear design for more than 18 years for such companies as Design Options and Marisa Christina. Cotton moved to Columbus, Ohio, to become the design director for BellePointe, whose customers included Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave, and specialty retailers across the United States and Canada. Cotton earned a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons New School for Design in 1990 and an MS in marketing and communication from Franklin University in 2011. Cotton has been a full-time faculty member at CCAD since 2006 and has taught a variety of classes, including Patternmaking, Fashion Construction, and Fashion Illustration I and II. Cotton currently teaches the senior thesis class Collection in addition to her Department Chair duties. In 2015, she was the recipient of the CCAD Teaching Excellence Award.
