Columbus youth art classes & workshops
Unleash your child's creativity.
At CCAD, we provide the resources and mentorship for creatives to discover their true passions. But this isn’t just at the undergraduate and graduate level. An interest in art and design takes shape at a young age. We see the kids who crush sidewalk chalk and make their own paint. The ones who color outside the lines. The ones who build cardboard cities. We’re here to help unleash their creativity and watch their love of art grow.
Future artists, animators & fashion designers
CCAD has one of the largest and oldest youth art programs in the country. From animation and drawing to fashion design and photography, our classes connect students to hands-on projects and experienced faculty who are passionate about art education. Creative Summer Workshops
This weeklong program is the perfect way for kids who will be in grades 3 through 12 during the 2021–2022 academic year to explore their creativity during the summer. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon or 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunchtime childcare is available for students who sign up for both morning and afternoon classes.
Numerous health and safety protocols are in place in response to COVID-19. All students will be required to wear a face mask. Daily health assessments and temperature checks will be required. Parents and guardians will need to use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones instead of coming inside the building. Classroom capacity has been adjusted and social distancing will be encouraged. If a student is diagnosed with COVID-19 or has to go home because they are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19, a voucher will be provided so the student can take part in a future class.

Film Columbus Teen Screenwriting Workshop & Competition
In partnership with the Greater Columbus Film Commission, the 2021 Film Columbus Teen Screenwriting Competition is a free virtual two-part screenwriting workshop with CCAD instructors for Columbus-area teens ages 13–17. The first workshop covers the basics, from plot to protagonists, followed by a big homework assignment: writing a script. The second workshop gives students a chance to receive feedback on their work and hear from their peers and instructor. After the workshops, students are encouraged to submit a 3-5 page script. Industry professionals will judge the scripts and select 2-3 winners, whose films will be made into short, 3-5 minute movies in the fall of 2021 by CCAD students. These films will premiere publicly in Spring 2022. Who knows where the experience will take you. Channel 113.4, written by Thomas Dellasanta through the workshop last year and produced by CCAD students in the fall of 2020, was recently accepted into the Toronto Independent Film Festival of Cift.
Registration: Register in advance here
Class dates: March 6 & 20, 2021 from noon to 4 p.m.
