CCAD grad gets her jaws on CXC poster

Created by Gabby Metzler (Fine Arts, 2017)

This year’s Cartoon Crossroads Columbus poster has a splashy, aquatic-themed design courtesy of a Columbus College of Art & Design alum. Sharks, crabs, turtles, squid, and other creatures of the deep are dressed in their comics fair best in the poster created by Gabby Metzler (Fine Arts, 2017) for this year’s CXC.

Hers may be a familiar name to close followers of CXC and the Columbus comics scene: Last year, Metzler won the fest’s Emerging Artist Award, taking home an oversized novelty check and a significant prize: $7,500. CXC is an international showcase for cartoon art in all forms, and CCAD has been an integral part of it since its 2015 founding. That includes playing host to this year’s keynote, Alison Bechdel (Fun Home) in conversation with Hillary Price (Rhymes with Orange) on Saturday, Oct. 2.
