CCAD alumnus, professor awarded GCAC fellowship

Contemporary realist painter Brian Port (CCAD 2000) and ceramic artist and CCAD Professor Kaname Takada are two of the four latest recipients of the 2014 Visual Arts Fellowship awards sponsored by the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Museum of Art.

Chosen from 192 applicants, Port and Takada each received a cash prize and will be featured in an exhibition hosted by the Columbus Museum of Art in 2015. Recipients are also invited to apply for the Arts Council’s Artist Exchange program in Dresden, Germany.

Illustration alumnus Port has shown work throughout Ohio and Indiana and currently has a painting exhibited at the Butler Institute's 78th Annual National Juried Show through Sept. 7 in Youngstown, OH. Port is represented by Brandt-Roberts Galleries in Columbus.

Takada's work has been shown in Ohio at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Zanesville Art Center, Lamar Dodd Art Center, Ohio Craft Museum, and the University of Findlay. He has also exhibited work in France, New Zealand, Japan, and in the U.S. outside of Ohio.

A reception in honor of the fellowship recipients will be held in conjunction with the exhibition hosted by the Columbus Museum of Art in 2015.
