Gravity opens this fall with CCAD alum mural

This fall, a new live-work-play community will open in Franklinton.

Gravity will have 234 apartments, 50,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Called a “conscious community,” their stated goal is to help people live intentional lives. Gravity will have community programming, shared experiences, and will foster art by showcasing murals from more than 25 local, national, and international artists.

Among these are Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra, who is painting a 5-story self-portrait, Columbus street artist Mandi Caskey, and Rather Severe, composed of CCAD grads Travis M. Czekalski (Media Studies, 2010) and Jon Stommel (Illustration, 2009), who will be creating their largest installation to date: a painting spanning 70 yards.

The art within Gravity will comprise 90 percent local art, with the Franklinton Arts District and the Greater Columbus Arts Council teaming with Gravity to curate and commission murals from local artists into 2019.
